Can't See The Woodie For The Trees

Nestled at the foot of a mountain beside a lake, these two breathtaking natural assets add so much to the delightful charm and welcoming atmosphere of Connecticut's Lake Compounce

Gentle transport rides, such as the miniature railway, the mountain climbing cable cars and the lakeside trolley pass by beautiful scenery, while mild thrill rides such as the screaming swing and turbo drop are nicely spaced giving the entire park a very easy going feel

As you enter Lake Compounce you notice the park's main street thoroughfare differs from the usual theme park default, rather than running top to bottom it runs left to right with the turnstiles spilling guests into the centre of the stock shops, games and typical main street ingredients

Thunder Rapids definitely drenches the passengers that take on its white water rafting expedition, Lake Compounce also has a water park which is home to the great Anchor Bay lazy river complex and water slides which plop you into the lake itself

Rattling along the foot of a mountain, rushing through the trees and rocks on Boulder Dash is an intense experience. The trains climb up the side of the mountain before hurtling down through the jagged rocks and tall trees which mischievously hide the path ahead, the dramatic setting and constant speed make for a truly out of control coaster experience

Despite the wild untamed drama of Boulder Dash, there is a more dramatic attraction at the park, the Skyride's vertigo inducing climb up to the top of a mountain is quite an intimidating journey as you dangle on a bench suspended from wire ridiculously high up, but it’s definitely worth it for the awe-inspiring views for miles around!

Lake Compounce is a very special park with its well balanced collection of attractions rooted deep into its dramatic natural terrain to make for an out of the ordinary place to spend the day
