2008 was a significant year for Danish coasters with the opening of Piraten and Lynet, following the construction closely through the closed season, we were itching to visit as soon as they opened in the summer.

At the start of June the parks in Scandinavia weren't open every day of the week, which was restricting our potential visit, fortunately we discovered a ferry connection between Göteborg and Denmark, making starting the trip at Liseberg a possibility.

The rest is history, I was amazed how simple this trip was to organise thanks to the information available on the public transport websites, also the parks own websites which had clear instructions and combination travel and ticket offers available.

The Sommerland parks are very unique to most other style of theme parks in Europe, they are no focused so much on rides, but providing well rounded family entertainment in the great outdoors, with a wealth of activities included in the reasonable entrance tickets, including water parks, go-karting, pony rides, shooting, mini golf even speed boat rides and dune buggy racing

Scandinavia is a unique place to visit these fantastic theme parks are a big persuasion to take the opportunity to make the most of the summer
